Under pressure to boost production of Tamiflu and license the drug to other manufacturers, Roche has been giving tours of its operations to journalists in an attempt to convince the media that the production process is complex and that Roche is rapidly ramping up its own production. Company officials have also been stressing that access to Tamiflu is far from a complete government response to the prospect of an avian flu outbreak among humans. "How will we keep the wheels of society turning?," asks Roche pandemic chief David Reddy.
