Drug companies enlist cheerleaders in effort to kick up sales
In the constant quest to gain an edge in the business of marketing drugs to doctors, a lineup of pharmaceutical companies have been enlisting cheerleaders into the ranks of drug reps. Experts say the ready smile, good looks and cheerful countenance of cheerleaders make them a natural for the work. And with freebies frowned on, it's one of the few remaining ways that drug companies can gain extra attention for their products. However, some critics say that this kind of marketing effort will have only limited results.
