Diagnostics group adds $21M in second VC round

The UK's Abingworth led the second round for Primera Biosystems, helping pull in $21 million for the molecular diagnostics company. InterWest Partners joined with Malaysian Technology Development, MPM Capital, Burrill & Co. and the Invus Group in the round. Primera gained $11 million in its first round two years ago and has been developing new technology related to gene expression, DNA/RNA analysis, micro RNA analysis, mutation analysis and methylated DNA analysis.
