Diabetes expert issued harsh Avandia critique in 2000
The president-elect of the American Diabetes Association accused GlaxoSmithKline of "rampant abuse of clinical trial data" in a letter sent to the FDA seven years ago. The letter also spells out John Buse's concerns about cardiovascular deaths and adverse events experienced by patients taking Avandia to control diabetes. A new study in the NEJM has determined from long ignored trial data that Avandia raises the risk of heart attacks by 43 percent and increases the risk of death by a whopping 64 percent.
None of this has gone unnoticed by attorneys, who have begun lining up to take a lineup of new cases that are expected to be filed over this latest scandal over the way the pharma industry has handled safety data. Some lawyers say that the litigation could wind up costing Glaxo tens of billions of dollars.

If it were not such a serious health situation, I would be amused at the time and moey that is spent on research into cardio-vascular disease and related syndroms. The answer to all and I mean all of the syndrome X affictions is very simple, but because doctors and drug companies cannot patent it, the information has received little public exposure despite the fact that a U.S. patent was issued for it and one of the developers of the process was a double Nobel prize winner. I refer of course to Linus Pauling and his documented research in to the use of Vitamin C, L lysine and L proline as a cure for arterialsclerosis etc. I am living proof that it works: 6 GMS of each item per day split into two, once in am and again 12 hours later, It works, and it is sad to think that because nobody can now patent the process or make any money from the research etc. that millions of people will die, without knowing the answer is already available. I challenge you to post the information after you have verified of course and I shall watch to see if you really are worth reading. Sincerely John Payne
