Critical Therapeutics compound fails in Phase II

Tools

Critical Therapeutics' Phase II trial for its experimental anti-inflammatory compound--CTI-01--missed its primary endpoint, failing to reduce major complications two to four weeks after surgery. The results were drawn from the 102 volunteers that had enrolled before Critical Therapeutics suspended the trial after experiencing problems with the containers holding the drug. Adverse events were similar for both the group taking the drug and a group taking a placebo. The Lexington, MA-based drug developer says it will now explore a collaboration deal or possibly out-license it to another company.
