At corporate HQ, Amgen drops the axe

Tools

The pink slips are starting to go out at Amgen. In a follow-up to the biotech giant's announced restructuring, Amgen is laying off 675 of the 8,300 employees who work at its corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. Amgen says it will lay off up to 14 percent of its workforce as it trims close to two billion dollars in costs. The restructuring was prompted by a drop in its revenue from lower sales of the anemia drug Aranesp.
