Alimera raises $31.8M in new venture funds

Alpharetta, GA-based Alimera Sciences has rounded up $31.8 million in new venture capital, one of the largest rounds recorded by a Georgia biotech company. Alimera is developing Medidur, a drug designed to treat swelling of the retina among diabetics. Alimera attracted $26.8 million in venture capital last year. Venrock Associates joined the list of venture firms backing the biotech this year.
