Novartis is touting new data showing that a single jab of one of its vaccines induced a protective antibody response in patients who had already been vaccinated as much as six years earlier. The study examined the effect of its MF59-adjuvanted booster vaccine against H5N1, which many fear could trigger a pandemic.
"These results potentially provide a rationale to prevent pandemic influenza by proactively immunizing the public with stockpiled pre-pandemic vaccines containing MF59," said lead investigator Iain Stephenson.
