Two new studies have determined that Celebrex can significantly reduce the number of precancerous colon polyps in people who have already had polyps surgically removed. But scientists were quick to note that the therapy's increased risk of cardiovascular events would make it impossible to recommend for patients at an average or high risk. Nevertheless, with the number of polyps cut by up to 45 percent, experts were excited by the prospects of a new therapy to prevent cancer.
