FDA approves Merck's rotavirus vaccine

The FDA has approved a new vaccine for rotavirus from Merck that is expected to earn about $500 million a year by 2009. Rotavirus is an intestinal virus that kills about a half million children each year. The vaccine--RotaTeq--should start shipping as early as next week, says the drug maker.
