FDA panel endorses Tarceva for pancreatic cancer

OSI and Genentech said that the FDA's expert panel on oncology has recommended approval of Tarceva for pancreatic cancer in a 10-3 vote. A final decision from the FDA is expected by November 2, potentially opening a lucrative new market for the expensive therapy. In Phase III trials, Tarceva combined with chemotherapy demonstrated a statistically significant increase in overall survival rates.
