SCHEER PARTNERS REPRESENTS BIOTECH COMPANY INTREXON IN 55,000-SQUARE-FOOT LEASE OF LAB AND OFFICE SPACE IN GERMANTOWN

Germantown, MD (October 22, 2012) – Intrexon is reaffirming its commitment to the Interstate 270 technology corridor through the signing of a new deal in Germantown completed by three executives with Scheer Partners.

The leading provider of fully integrated commercial real estate services for the health science industry in the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas, Scheer Partners announces today that it has negotiated on behalf of Intrexon a 55,000-square-foot lease of laboratory and office space at 20358 Seneca Meadows Parkway.

In this multi-year lease extension, Scheer Partners Founder and President Robert Scheer, Senior Vice President Henry Bernstein and Vice President Matt Brady represented Intrexon, which is a growing biotechnology company focused on the industrial engineering of synthetic biology.

Based in Blacksburg, Va. – and led by its chairman and CEO, Randal J. Kirk, a long-time, successful biotech investor – Intrexon is deploying its extensive capabilities to rapidly design and produce novel and enhanced biological products and processes across multiple industry sectors, such as human therapeutics, protein production, industrial products, agricultural biotechnology and animal science.

"We're very excited to have helped Intrexon negotiate its Germantown lease renewal," Brady says. "Our client received competitive terms from the landlord, and we're thrilled that Intrexon will continue to occupy a significant amount of space in Montgomery County."

In September of 2009, Intrexon announced that it had purchased substantially all of the equipment and assumed the lease of Avalon Pharmaceuticals' industry-leading bioassay facility at 20358 Seneca Meadows Parkway, which Intrexon then named as the home of its Human Therapeutics Division. That site has also since become the location of Intrexon's Animal Science Division.

"We've enjoyed a decade-long relationship with Intrexon's predecessor – Avalon Pharmaceuticals – and therefore are particularly pleased to have had the opportunity to also work with Intrexon on this important real estate project," Scheer says.

Germantown-based Minkoff Development owns 20358 Seneca Meadows Parkway, which is part of the Seneca Meadows Corporate Center.
