Bonnie Fendrock, Hepregen CEO and Co-founder

Fendrock is one of three CEOs highlighted by the Boston Business Journal as women who are breaking the glass ceiling. Before starting her own company, among other positions, Fendrock was VP at Genzyme, director of business development at Somatix and Project Manager at Genetics Institute (Wyeth in a past life). The President and CEO co-founded Hepregen in 2007 with fellow MIT researchers Salman Khetani and Sangeeta Bhatia, but the company did not officially launch until earlier this year. The Medford, MA-based company is backed by Batelle Ventures and Innovation Valley Partners. Hepregen is developing technology that would predict the liver's response to drugs. CEOs Abbie Celniker (photo) of Taligen Therapeutics and Katrine Bosley (photo) of Avila Therapeutics also gained recognition.
