Position Description
My client is a 30 year old Reference Laboratory Corporation. They offer leading edge testing services in the areas of Clinical Trials, Bioanalytical, Corporate Wellness Programs, Genomics, and Toxicology Services.
They have developed a strong reputation as a leading provider of biotechnology research and development analytical services. They are growing and focusing their expansion efforts on increasing their long-term relationships with customers in the biotechnology sector and selected pharmaceutical companies.
Vice President Business Development
We are conducting a search for an experienced individual to be direct frontline Sales for selling to the Pharmaceutical/Bio-Analytical laboratory, Central Laboratory or CRO industries. This is a new position based on growth.
Their product line includes a portfolio encompassing cutting-edge expertise and a complete array of the most current synthetic chemistries, analytical chemistries and biophysical technologies, many of which are not available from any other life sciences research and development outsourcing or bioengineering source.
They also offer clients analytical method development services designed to meet and exceed the FDA Guidance on Bioanalytical Method Development and Validation. All of their pre-clinical drug development support activities are conducted under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). All of their clinical drug development support activities are also conducted in the GLP environment under CLIA registration.
They have numerous other licenses, certifications, and registrations, to offer nationwide and global testing services
Their broad technology base allows for providing bundles services in the proteomics and genomics area. The company has very strong program management capabilities and is valued for the quality of intellectual input a client receives in support of their project
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: MS degree in the life sciences. Other advanced degrees relevant to the life sciences market desired but not required.
10+ years selling and leading high performing organizations. You will have sold bioanaytical services before and have direct experience selling in the early stage drug discovery area.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in sales and marketing. Prior Contract Research Organization (CRO) sales or marketing experience is preferred. However, sales and marketing experience in the technical and scientific disciplines are a must. This individual will work on a large variety of business activities and a professional degree (e.g., MBA) demonstrating a background in that area will be a positive but is not a requirement.
The candidate MUST have a proven track record with regard to professional relationship building and generation of new revenues. That is, we expect the candidate to have an extensive network of professional scientific and business contacts with decision makers in outsourcing. The successful candidate must be respected by their peers and have a positive professional image in the industry they serve.
Candidates invited to interview will be asked to give a formal presentation to explain how they would approach this position in the short term (12 months) and in the long term.
This position could require extensive travel.
