US Medical Affairs – Operations Manager - Bayer

Job description
Direct, develop, lead, implement, and manage the internal operational systems and processes required to enable the success of all US-Medical Affairs functions and US-Medical Affairs management. These include but are not limited to data, systems, technologies, communications, budget support, bonus, policies and procedures. Special functional areas are US-Medical Affairs Business Systems, Data Quality and Integration, US-Medical Affairs Project Management and Compliance.
1. Develop and direct the enactment, implementation and management of appropriate corporate US-Medical Affairs policies and procedures for US Medical personnel.
2. Responsible for the creation of strategic and tactical approaches regarding US Medical Operations and Information Technology.
3. Partner with senior Legal and Regulatory management around compliance to state and federal regulations relating to US Medical Affairs compliance issues.
4. Directs, develops, and recommends to the Head of US Medical Affairs and the US Medical Affairs Leadership Team the appropriate implementation strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of internal US Medical Affairs operations, thereby maximizing available resources.
5. Assists in the development of strategies for current and future US Medical information systems required to maximize performance for all internal US Medical personnel and direct the project management required to implement them.
6. Partner with responsible parties with US Medical Affairs to determine then implement, enhance, replace if necessary and manage internal hardware and software applications insuring that the corporation and US Medical personnel have the appropriate tools to enable quality scientific support of the Business Units.
7. Direct the management of strategic scientific business and technology projects for deployment internally as they pertain to US Medical Affairs.
8. Support US Medical Affairs budget management as well as US Medical Affairs business planning with appropriate internal partners.
Qualifications
BA/BS Required. Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, Masters) preferred in science-related field, or other appropriate knowledge/experience
2 to 4 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry in medical affairs, clinical development, marketing, sales, training or related health care field
3 years experience in a team environment
Strong knowledge of clinical development/operations
Ability to manage a diverse group of responsibilities
Solid negotiation and strategic influencing abilities
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with ability to take initiative
Proven ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets
Strong project management, time management, analytical, problem solving and organization skills
Proven ability to perform successfully under stringent timelines and with competing priorities while delivering desired results
Preferred:
Minimum 3 years experience in a strategy-setting role within Medical Affairs or Health Care field
Excellent computer skills: Excel, Word, Power Point, Lotus Notes, etc.
Knowledge of information technology systems, business, finance, information systems
