Position Description
Covance is expanding its biotechnology services business to the United States. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly growing scientific service offering with one of the world’s premier drug development companies. The biotechnology business unit will provide a comprehensive portfolio of contract GLP and GMP laboratory services supporting the development and manufacture of biotechnology, biopharmaceutical and vaccine products.
We are currently seeking a Laboratory Manager of Immunochemistry/BioAssay for our new Biotechnology lab in Greenfield IN. As the manager, you will:
• Manage a scientific group conducting multi-disciplined studies to generate high quality scientific results on behalf of Covance clients.
• Assist with the development of standard language for reports and protocols.
• Assess and implement new technology and automation to reduce errors and/or improve productivity.
• Play a key role in developing strategies for developing new business, managing resources, and providing scientific oversight for critical issues.
• Monitor/evaluate/review the scientific and financial performance of studies and projects.
Qualifications include:
• BS degree with 5-15 years of experience in protein chemistry. A PhD is plus.
• Experienced in bulk and drug product release testing in a high throughput GMP environment.
• Prior experience managing people is needed.
• Experience with non-kit based ELISA, bioassays and cell culture required.
• Robotic and software experience is desired.
• Experience in a QC release laboratory or contract testing laboratory desired.
• Experience with regulatory inspections and startup operations preferred.
