In Vivo Inflammation Pharmacologist - Roche

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced, versatile and highly collaborative researcher to lead our in vivo pharmacology efforts in the Inflammation Disease Biology Area. This individual will supervise a team of Ph.D. and B.S./M.S. level in vivo scientists employing acute and subchronic animal models of inflammation to validate novel targets, define biomarkers and characterize pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic relationships to support lead optimization and candidate selection. Responsibilities will also include executing mechanism of action studies, implementing new technology platforms and contributing to cross-functional project teams. This researcher will be expected to publish scientific findings, present at scientific conferences and interact with internal and external knowledge leaders. In addition, this individual will be responsible for mentoring and developing direct reports and advising junior scientists.

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. and 5-8 years of experience in the implementation and application of in vivo and ex vivo inflammation models and assays, with a track record of success in utilizing these approaches to resolve key program issues and deliver novel therapeutics into the development pipeline. Thorough knowledge and a scientific appreciation of the intricacies of immunologic pathways, inflammatory responses and in vivo pharmacology principles is a must. Prior experience with the application of a variety of techniques, assays and models to the progression of different classes of pharmacologic targets is preferred. A history of productive cross-functional scientific collaborations, along with excellent communication skills and an ability to manage functional teams in a matrixed environment, are required.
