Project Manager - Variation Biotechnologies

Position Description

VBI is seeking a dynamic and internally driven Project Manager to help coordinate our research programs. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple research programs from the preclinical stage through to early clinical development. VBI employs a matrix organizational structure, and the Project Manager will play a key role in integrating skill sets across VBI’s functional teams, including Chemistry & Analytics, Formulations, Immunology and Clinical Development. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development, the Project Manager will work closely with the Program Leader to ensure that both scientific and business imperatives are considered in the effective management of VBI’s vaccine programs. Most critically, the Project Manager will be responsible for monitoring progress against milestones and ensure on-budget, on-timeline completion. The Project Manager is expected to:

• Manage project to reach objectives, including allocation of staff resources, delegating, scheduling and prioritizing of staff workloads and developing, mentoring and coaching others.
• Coordinate and attend all meetings related to the managed project, ensuring decisions are reached efficiently and delivered upon.
• Assist in the management of external contract research organizations and vendors.
• Serve as the ‘conscience’ for the project, stimulating, coaching and enabling busy team members to properly prioritize and complete tasks on schedule.
• Coordinate project priorities across teams and across projects, including active problem solving with other Project Managers, Director of Corporate Development and other members of senior executive team.
• Maintain an updated project overview and communicate it effectively to team and senior management including through the use of MS Project, Excel, Word, MS Outlook and other enabling software.
• Serve as an internal role model for positive, goal-centric behaviours and take a proactive approach to resolve problems and challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS
• University Degree required in Biology, Biotechnogy or related field
• Master of Science level, MBA, PMP designation oor other specific project management level training strongly preferred
• Minimum 3 – 5 years Project Management experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of project management (project planning, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, benefits realization)
• Strong knowledge of regulatory & clinical development issues in biopharmaceutical product development
• Well developed interpersonal and client relationship skills
• Supervisory or managerial experience
• Analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills are a must
• Strong presentation, writing, and/or training skills
• Excellent team building skills, listening, coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills
• Proficient use of computer, software, and peripheral equipment, i.e., Windows XP, MS Office, MS Mail/Outlook, MS Project
