Background Information and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will spend a majority of time analyzing the phenotypes of genetically modified mice or of mice that have been exposed to pharmacological treatments focusing on effects on the skeleton. May need to employ a combination of animal experimentation, morphometric, histological, and molecular techniques. Animal experimentation may involve invasive procedures (such as stabilized fracture models or models of experimentally induced OA and RA), and minimally invasive procedures (such as delivery of biomolecules or labels, and implantation of collagen sponges or matrigel matrices). Morphometric techniques may include use of microCT or X-ray densitometry, or dynamic histomorphometry. Collection of tissues, dissection, and particularly preparation of skeletal elements for different types of analyses will be performed on a frequent basis. Histological techniques may include sectioning and staining to visualize, examine the morphology, and count different cells that reside and or invade skeletal tissues. Will need to work as part of a team, frequently interacting with different people and working across projects rather than being dedicated to a small subset of projects for long periods of time. In addition, ability to employ a combination of techniques among animal experimentation (dosing, implants, surgeries or fluid collection), densitometry, bone histomorphometry, histology or in vitro molecular assays (e.g. ELISA) is a must.
Personality Desired
This scientist should be comfortable in a team working environment . Good presentation skills at group level through large public presentation. This scientist is expected to play a major role in developing the companies discoveries.
