Position Description

Essential Functions:
• Ability to conduct ADME/metabolite profiling of samples from animal and in vitro studies.
• Excellent report writing skills for ADME/metabolite profiling studies
• Experience with triple quadrupole mass spectrometer, beta-RAM detector, LSC, Fraction Collector, Stop Flow as well as the respective software
• Demonstrated experience with radiolabel compounds, radiation safety, and various manufacturers radiodetectors.
• To develop efficient extraction procedures such as PP, LLE, SPE and to establish optimized instrumental parameters for the purpose of pre-clinical and clinical sample analyses.
• Review of method development and validation protocols, method validation reports and analytical reports.
• Experience and willingness to direct, advise and mentor scientific and laboratory staff
• Improve GLP, non-GLP and departmental processes based on client need, providing creative, strategic, short and long-term goals and solutions for continuous improvement.
• Provide oversight of scheduling, resource management and study conduct
• Ensure staff is adequately trained to perform assigned functions and provide opportunity to further staff training
• Communicate in a timely and accurate manner with Study Directors, management, laboratory staff and clients.
• Interact with Study Directors and clients, ensuring deliverables align with Study Director and client needs
• Effectively delegate duties to trained staff, while providing direct assistance to the laboratory, as needed, to meet established timelines
• Review, analyze and provide interpretation of data as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain a motivating and creative work environment and culture by using appropriate recognition, rewards and consequences to manage the teams performance
• Prepare annual budgets and monitor monthly, including forecasting needs for departmental growth and developing budgetary needs, while keeping department functioning within those limits.
Qualifications:
• PhD in relevant field and 7 years experience in specialty
• MS in relevant field and 11 years experience in specialty; or
• BS in relevant field and 13 years experience in specialty.
• Experience with standard industry data collection and management software, such as Watson LIMS and Analyst
• Must possess interpersonal skills that enable and promote collaborative relationships among staff and across reporting lines
• Desire to learn new techniques and train others in a team environment
• Ability to lead and manage staff in a growing and changing environment
• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
• Computer skills commensurate with Essential Functions and including ability to learn a validated system
• Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends extended shifts and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.
• Ability to work under specific time constraints
