Position Description
Lead team of managers responsible for training and developing field-based personnel spanning three therapeutic areas (neurology, oncology, rheumatology).
Perform needs analysis research to identify that the training needs of the field have been accurately assessed. Develop/manage an overall annual training plan and budget. Create a mechanism for identifying and sharing best practices that can be leveraged across therapeutic areas and commercial functions.
Develop and successfully execute a strategy consistent with organization goals (and product strategies) that ensures competitive differentiation based on field employees having superior clinical knowledge and selling skills.
Oversee the development, design, coordination and implementation of highly effective training and development programs (this includes coordination of all related activities at Plan of Action (POA) meetings). Ensure that all curriculum incorporates adult learning principles, is focused on core job competencies, and is aligned with overall marketing and sales leadership strategies.
Create and implement a system for evaluating and measuring the impact of all training and development activities which results in continuous improvement and program evolution.
Foster a culture that encourages individual and team development; be seen as a launching pad for future career opportunities within the organization.
Qualifications:
10+ years pharma/biotech including field sales
Experience in rheum/onc/neurology strongly preferred
Prior management experience required (Sales training/sales management experience strongly preferred)
Significant training and development experience strongly preferred
Understanding of adult learning and training design principles
Strong interpersonal communication skills, proven excellent written communication skills, computer proficient including PowerPoint, Excel and skilled in the use of Siebel as a management planning tool
Ability to interface with multiple areas of the commercial organization, including senior management, and with collaboration partners.
Understands legal and compliance issues facing the pharmaceutical industry
