As a Manufacturing Engineer in the Gas Chromatographic Section your primary responsibilities will include the technical support as well as process implementation and improvement of sample separations systems and related products. In addition you will work with R&D and outside acquisitions to bring new products into Production. As products mature, you may be involved in the transfer of products to production at other sites.

You will be required to develop a thorough understanding of the construction, operation and testing of the products involved. You will also become familiar with the assembly procedures, fixturing and testing of the parts that make up the products we support.

Working in a Quality First business environment you will be required to develop judgment to recommend appropriate actions in the event of production problems with the instrument.

Other activities may include (but are not limited to):

• Development and maintenance of process metrics
• Testing of new and substitute parts for production
• Support and training of production line personnel
• Cooperative work with Production Supervisors
• Interaction with the Quality department on issues and part or instrument qualifications
• Development and implementation of production test equipment
• Troubleshooting and resolution of instrument and sub-assembly issues.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Masters Degree or PhD preferred along with demonstrated potential for growth
• Demonstrated record of solving difficult technical problems in a multi-disciplined (i.e. chemical, mechanical, electrical) environment.
• Experience (either professionally or personally) which demonstrates mechanical aptitude
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings; both mechanical and electrical.
• Ability to understand instrument block diagrams as a troubleshooting aid.
• Familiarity with programming languages
• Ability to communicate needs, plans and achievements at all levels of a corporate organization.
• Ability to simultaneously participate in multiple issues as they arise in a Manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to work in a hands on environment
• Willingness to take on new challenges and learn from the experience of co-workers.

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience scheduling and completing tasks on schedule.
• Experience in a Manufacturing or R&D environment
• Demonstrated knowledge part fabrication and tolerancing.
• Project coordination and management skills
• Ability to influence others in a peer to peer relationship
• Experience defining and maintaining process metrics
• Experience with CAD packages • Experience in tooling and fixturing design for production
• Awareness of ergonomic issues in a production environment.
