Syntiron is a biopharmaceutical company in Saint Paul, Minnesota, that develops vaccines for human bacterial disease. The company seeks to leverage its proprietary platform technology to develop bacterial vaccines for unmet human medical needs, including hospital infections, biodefense and diseases of the developing world. Syntiron is seeking a Protein Biochemist to accept a lead role in the preclinical development of its vaccine products.
Qualifications
Required:B.S. in biochemistry or related field with at least 7 years experience, a M.S. with at least 5 years experience, or a Ph.D. with 2 years of experience. Familiarity with protein identification techniques including LC-MS and MALDI-TOF MS.
-Experience with recombinant protein expression, protein purification, and Western blot analysis.
-Ability to work in a BSL-2 laboratory setting.
-Strong written and oral communication skills.
-Ability to work in a team environment, learn new techniques, and solve complex scientific problems.
Desired:
-Familiarity with 2-D gel electrophoresis
-Experience working with insoluble membrane proteins.
Responsibilities: This individual will be responsible for characterizing complex compositions of bacterial vaccine antigens using standard biochemical and proteomic techniques; formulating complex protein mixtures with adjuvants; characterizing, managing and expanding a library of recombinant candidate vaccine antigens; developing new experimental methodology; contributing to and preparing technical reports; managing junior scientific staff; and collaborating with other scientists on multiple projects.
