Position Description
RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing the development and commercialization of proprietary therapeutics based on RNA interference (RNAi) for the treatment of serious human diseases. RXi was founded in January of 2007 by leaders in the RNAi field including Dr. Craig Mello, recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize for Medicine for his co-discovery of RNAi.
RXi is looking for a nucleotide/oligonucleotide chemist to join our chemistry department. As part of the team, this person will be developing and synthesizing novel nucleotides, supports, and conjugation technologies to provide a foundation for development of RNAi therapeutics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and synthesize novel modified nucleotides, phosphoramidites, supports, and conjugates
• Assist with oligonucleotide synthesis
• Aid in process optimization and documentation
• Establish and manage collaborations and CRM
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry with 1-5 years of experience
• Experience with nucleotide chemistry and/or oligonucleotide synthesis is a plus
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
