Position Description
RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing the development and commercialization of proprietary therapeutics based on RNA interference (RNAi) for the treatment of serious human diseases. RXi was founded in January of 2007 by leaders in the RNAi field including Dr. Craig Mello, recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize for Medicine for his co-discovery of RNAi.
RXi is looking for a talented, hardworking research associate to provide cell biology and tissue culture support to an interdisciplinary team working on the development of RNAi therapeutics. This person will be responsible for maintaining cell line stocks, media preparation, cell plating, and primary cell preparation and growth. In this fundamental support role, we are looking for a person with excellent attention to detail and a team work ethic. Previous experience with tissue culture is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities:
• Uphold general tissue culture operations such as ordering reagents and maintaining lab equipment
• Maintain cell line stocks
• Conduct media preparation and QC
• Manage cell growth and plating to support R&D activities
• Control QC of all incoming cell lines and primary cells
• Prepare primary cells
• Other lab activities as requested
Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in life sciences field is desirable
• 1-3 years of tissue culture experience
