Position Description

Job Summary

We seek a talented and highly motivated Associate Director for the Hemophilia group to be part of a dynamic drug discovery program focused on identifying novel therapeutics for hemophilia and related blood coagulation disorders. You will work in a team setting, designing and implementing studies to evaluate new protein-based therapeutics in the setting of hemophilia A and B. You will also lead projects through the drug development process. You will contribute to the discovery of new products not simply by performing routine assays and procedures, but also through the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field. You will be consulted for input on projects by both peers and management on a routine basis. You will present a formal seminar on a yearly basis as well as presentations outside of the company on a regular basis. You will be required to regularly reach scientific milestones as evidenced by scientific publications. You will be required to present results of independent experiments at section meetings, write reports for internal communications as well as invention records and complete scientific papers for peer reviewed journals. You will take an active role as a team member in discovery and/or development projects, serve as a resource and a mentor to team members and may serve as a team leader or as champion of program. You will serve as an adviser to discovery or development teams in area of expertise.

Basic Qualifications

You must have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field with 12+ years of relevant post-graduate experience in blood coagulation and/or hemostasis with some experience within the pharmaceutical industry or familiarity with the clinical aspects of hemostasis required. Only internal candidates with a BS with 20+ years of experience or an MS with a minimum of 17+ years of experience will be considered for this position. Experience in the areas of molecular biology and/or protein expression either directly or from a supervisor perspective is required. You must have excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by a strong record of scientific presentation and publication record and recognition within the field of blood coagulation and hemosatsis as well as demonstrable leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to work within a matrix managed organization. You must have a demonstrated working knowledge of common assays and technologies in a modern hemostasis laboratory including executing and/or supervising in vivo experiments in animal models of hemostasis as well as record of working with clinicians in the area. Level and title will be commensurate with the experience and education level of the selected candidate.
