Position Description
The ideal candidate should possess skills and experience with pharmaceutical drug development project management, including project planning and tracking, decision and risk analysis, resource conflict management and communication in a matrix environment. He/She should have a working knowledge of the multiple facets of drug development from lead optimization to phase III clinical studies, and must be an excellent communicator among scientists and managers from various R&D disciplines.
This project manager will manage an antiviral compound development and will be heavily involved in late-staged CMC activities. Responsibilities will include preparation of project team documentation including timeline, agendas, meeting minutes, status reports, project schedules and plans. The incumbent will work closely with project leaders/directors to develop comprehensive project plans and conduct effective project team meetings. The project manager is also responsible for tracking project tasks against the timeline, and preparing status reports. To keep projects on time and on budget, the project manager functions as a team problem solver, conflict resolution facilitator and meeting facilitator as necessary. Additional responsibilities include acting as a liaison with external contractors or partners. The project manager also serves as the key source for information on project timelines, budgets, status and interdependencies, communicating project team action items and critical decisions, preparing budget estimates, and presenting project information to senior management.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree required, science major/advanced degree preferred. Minimum of four years professional experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industries, drug development, project management certification and/or CMC experience a plus. Must have the ability to understand and apply knowledge of drug development, drug technology, and project management processes. Requires effective written and oral communication, strong interpersonal skills, problem solving, facilitation, presentation, and conflict resolution skills. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task, work effectively with little direction, and build collaborative relationships with management, partners and peers from diverse backgrounds. Must possess keen analytical abilities to review financial data and resolve project issues. Requires strong computer skills with proficiency in spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing software.
