Position Description

Social & Scientific Systems, a growing employee-owned technical and research firm, has an immediate opening for an RN Research and Communications Director. This exciting position will provide leadership and clinical direction and guidance to the Medical Product Surveillance Network (MedSun) project, focused on patient safety and risk management. The Director will maintain key intervention areas (communications, research and evaluation), ensure appropriate project management of MedSun activities in the Communications and Research team, and ensure relevant contract deliverables. With Project Director and MedSun senior management team, will develop annual workplan and ensure regular project monitoring (activities and budget vs. expenditures). QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• RN with Masters degree (required) or doctoral degree (desirable) in related areas such as evaluation, epidemiology, biostatistics or related public health research concentrations.
• 7 years of nursing/biomedical/public health experience with at least three years of experience in project management of complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience in research and evaluation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Candidate will need to have or obtain Level 5 Public Trust Security Clearance (can be obtained after hiring).

Highly desired:
• Project experience with public-sector (USG) clients
• Experience/skills in patient safety initiatives, healthcare provider continuing education or pre-service education programs (nursing, physician, etc.)
• Recent clinical experience, especially experience in patient safety and risk management initiatives
