Position Description
RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing the development and commercialization of proprietary therapeutics based on RNA interference (RNAi) for the treatment of serious human diseases. RXi was founded in January of 2007 by leaders in the RNAi field including Dr. Craig Mello, recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize for Medicine for his co-discovery of RNAi.
RXi is seeking a Research Associate in Pharmacology to join a very exciting and growing team at our location west of Boston. As a Research Associate at RXi Pharmaceuticals, you will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary project team working to screen and optimize RNAi compounds in vitro and in vivo with the common goal of developing RNAi compounds for therapeutic use.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be involved in the evaluation of RNAi compounds and delivery modalities with respect to efficacy, toxicity and pharmacokinetic profile in animal models of disease. Responsibilities will include hands-on small animal handling, dosing of test compounds using a variety of administration routes, minor surgical techniques, tissue harvesting, and preparation and analysis of tissue samples for RNA and protein quantitation. Previous experience in pre-clinical animal models is desired. Level is dependent upon background and experience.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related field. Post-degree research experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical laboratory setting is desired. You must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
