Company
Our client is a private bio productivity company based in Spain. It has transformed a new piece of biology in a disruptive technology, and now plans to turn it into a protein-production industry standard. The company is seeking a VP Technology to take up this challenge.
Responsibilities
As VP Technology, you will direct the work of the scientific team, provide leadership to the internal and external Research endeavours, support the commercial deployment of recombinant proteins and other technologies, and contribute to the early stages of product development programs.
You will report to the CEO and be a key contributor to the Science Advisory Committee. Your responsibilities, authority and compensation will correspond to those of the few early-stage, 14-people growing companies enriched with a great technology, key investors and an international profile.
Profile
You are a scientist able to recognize potential, to design strategies and budgets, to make tactical choices and to have plans executed in time.
You are a manager that knows about the science of making proteins and developing biopharmaceutical products, with at least 5 years experience in the management of research or development programs.
That includes:
- Research management responsibility, up to director-level, ideally in the biopharmaceutical industry;
- A history of success in creating and fostering innovation;
- Significant experience in industry based purification at process development and optimisation, liberation of preclinical and clinical material (CTM) being an asset;
- Prior experience with various protein-production systems, ideally with a variety of eukaryotic cell lines;
- Familiarity with IP protection and management and a strong publication record.
You have exceptional people/project management skills and you are fluent in the English language. Other languages would be seen as a useful asset (such as Catalan, Spanish or French). Your formal training shall include a PhD, with a strong emphasis in protein biochemistry and cell biology; you also have a good understanding of molecular biology.
The company plans to fill the VP Technology position in Q1 of 2009.
