Position Description
The Associate Director, Business Planning provides financial and analytical support to Biogen Idec’s U.S. Commercial Oncology/Rheumatology business and Corporate Planning for the Rituxan/CD-20 collaboration. The position reports to the Director of U.S. Commercial Operations and Planning.
Key areas of work include:
Collaboration Management – Manage the financial component of Biogen Idec’s commercial collaboration with Genentech. Coordinate internal Biogen Idec collaboration processes, represent Biogen Idec as a member of the collaboration Joint Finance Committee and ensure Biogen Idec meets the financial submission requirements of the collaboration agreement.
Financial Planning and Analysis – Lead Biogen Idec’s commercial Oncology/Rheumatology financial planning processes including quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and long term plans.
Corporate finance – Work with business functions to ensure monthly spending is within budget.
Management reporting – Prepare monthly financial reports and build templates to help facilitate planning processes. Work with the management accounting team to ensure relevant, timely and accurate reporting.
Strategic projects – Provide ad hoc analysis and lead strategic projects for the Oncology/Rheumatology commercial business.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
▪ Comparable biopharma work experience or a strong background in consulting, investment banking or public accounting in a post-MBA role
▪ A solid understanding of financial modeling and corporate financial statements (income and cash flow statements and balance sheets)
▪ Strong business judgment – skilled strategic and operational thinker in addition to solid finance professional
▪ The ability to build strong relationships with Biogen Idec’s commercial business units and counterparts from the Genentech collaboration
▪ Detail-oriented
