Position Description

The Position: The Principal Scientist will be responsible for overseeing the scientific quality of an array of research and consulting efforts related to health economics and outcomes research. Overall responsibilities will include: • Oversight and mentoring of staff;
• Proposal guidance and oversight;
• Project quality assurance;
• Oral and written communication with colleagues, sponsors, and collaborators, on research and management issues;
• Preparing project reports, slideshows, abstracts for presentation and manuscripts for publication.

The Principal Scientist will guide and oversee multidisciplinary teams consisting of colleagues, sponsor personnel, and collaborators. In addition, he/she would participate actively in the development and management of strategic relationships with key customers.

Positive interaction with internal colleagues, and externally with sponsors and leading clinical and academic experts, will be the key to success in the position. It is anticipated that as much as 70% of the job will be focused on project work, contributed across the company’s portfolio of services. Some studies may be modest or small scale in nature, while others may be larger efforts tied in with other company services.

Colleagues will actively seek opportunities to bring in relationships and resultant work that would take advantage of the Principal Scientist’s specific capabilities. At the same time, the incumbent will be expected to work with the team to proactively engage in relationship building and maintenance, as well as sales and marketing activities that generate leads and new work.

Qualifications:

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as pharmacoeconomics, health economics, public health or health policy, epidemiology, pharmacy, medicine, clinical science, quality of life and psychometrics or related;
• Experience in a consulting environment, contract research organization, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology company performing health economic, quality of life, epidemiologic, health policy or related research;
• Experience in North American and European markets is strongly preferred; experience in South American and/or Asia Pacific markets is highly desirable;
• Experience and skill in program planning; project management; staff recruitment, supervision, training, and development; financial and resource planning and management, and quality assurance;
• Focused expertise in process development within complex, challenging and changing environments;
Excellent writing and overall communication skills required, as is a good publication record;
