Chemical Buyer - First Priority Inc.

Position Description

This person will be responsible for the negotiation and purchasing of raw materials and chemicals. Responsibilities will include; procurement of all incoming raw materials and components; establish and execute sourcing strategies; negotiating purchase quotes, terms and agreements; maintaining an effective inventory control system; maintaining a vendor audit program and auditing vendors; maintaining appropriate raw material forecasting; delivery lead times; and managing inbound transportation logistics.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or a related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical, food processing, chemical or an FDA regulated industry
- Manage and coordinate inbound transportation and logistics
- Prepare product costs and quotes as needed for new and existing products
- Act as liaison between the company and suppliers on matters involving quality
- Perform necessary follow-up and expediting activities to insure timely deliveries
- Proficient with MS Office
- Experience using the internet to source materials
- Excellent negotiation skills
- APICS or NAPM certification preferred
- An understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
