Vice President of Sales and Marketing –
A newly-created position that will report to the CEO and President
SITUATION SPECIFICATIONS
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Direct report to the CEO and President, interactive with Board of Directors
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vice President of Sales and Marketing is a new position
Marketing Product Managers and Sales Managers will report to this position.
Specific responsibilities include:
• The Vice President of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for the marketing strategy, market development, and product forecasting, market research and implementation, sales forecast and budget plus opinion leader development. The Vice President of Sales and Marketing will cross multiple customer channels in strategy development which will include pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology, academic, and OEM environments. Each will require segment vision and execution planning.
• The Vice President of Sales and Marketing must be able to transfer the organizational vision and lessons learned into an updated and more formal product development and marketing strategy. Expanding the market and sales penetration in the antibody technology and related markets for both field testing and laboratory use markets is a key priority. Increasing the revenue stream in each market segment is a priority and the candidate will need to identify specific targets in each market segment, develop and execute the appropriate marketing strategy, and formulate solutions based upon a thorough understanding of each client’s needs and align those needs to the internal competencies and resources
• Build marketing and sales team for each specific brand strategy within the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology, academic, and OEM markets where appropriate.
• Create Marketing Product and Sales Strategy where appropriate depending on product environment or business application.
• Create and manage annual budgets for the product development sales and marketing functional areas and apply budget to research, promotion and development.
• Attend trade shows and events where customers, potential customers and alignment can be investigated and discussed.
• Communicate extensively to other executives and Board Directors. Solicit feedback and assistance as needed from the team,
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
B.S/B.A Degree and MBA Required. Technical undergraduate degree in science, medical or pharmaceutical required. PhD is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 10+ years
The Successful Candidate Must Have:
• Understanding of how to use sales and marketing skills inclusive of strategy development and application of strategy, segmentation, price and promotion the application of technical areas inclusive of pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology, academic, and OEM markets. Able to understand basic financial terms such as P/L, SG&A, ROI and EBITA.
• Successful product and marketing and sales management in developing and motivating people and forecasting and achieving revenue goals plans. Ideal if candidate has developed marketing or sales plans for a new concept or service (as opposed to a product), which requires a value-based, consultative sales/marketing approach which incorporated rapid growth into new markets.
• Demonstrated experience in strategy and planning. Ideal if this experience included a pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology, academic, and OEM market that has products related to technology based products including but not requiring diagnostic test kits or life science products.
• Demonstrated experience in creating and managing market awareness, brand management, and new product promotions.
• Experience should include smaller company, results oriented, hands-on, and less formally structured environment.
• Demonstrated success being a leader and mentor to a small team. Previous Position of Director or Vice President required.
Compensation
Base 200K+
30-35% Bonus
