The Folsom, California site is the world’s premier and largest manufacturing facility of capillary gas chromatography (GC) columns which are industry leaders in market share and performance. GC columns are a critical part of the rapidly growing consumables portfolio within the Life Science and Chemical Analysis (LSCA) business unit.

The Folsom manufacturing site is entering a new stage with increased emphasis on incorporating new product lines, improvements in existing products, process consistency and efficiency. We are consistently improving our product availability and quality by using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies. We are searching for an experienced, innovative and team-oriented engineer to join a team of talented engineers, chemists, programmers and technicians who understands that soft skills are as equally important as technical skills, and is capable of managing projects from beginning to end.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to working individually and as part of multi-discipline, cross-functional, cross-geography/ teams to:

1. Help design, develop, test, improve, and sustain existing and new GC column manufacturing and fiber winding equipment and equipment for the manufacturing of other gas chromatography consumables.

2. Lead, participate, and contribute to on-going LEAN and Six Sigma design, product, process, and test projects.

3. Provide production support and troubleshoot product and production equipment and process problems.

4. Interface with GC Column and Accessory R&D, Product Marketing and Quality Engineers to support escalated supplier problems and customer critical problems.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Chemical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 5-10 years Engineering experience, Production support, and hands-on prototype development.
Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, troubleshooting, process improvement, change management, multi-tasking and detail oriented activities and projects
Demonstrated ability to successfully, efficiently and respectfully work within multi-disciplinary teams composed of chemists, engineers, computer programmers, supervisors and production technicians.
Demonstrated project management, record keeping, verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Preferred:
Experience in designing and implementing components in small scale systems for leak free high purity, high temperature low volume fluid and gas delivery. This includes having the associated material science understanding necessary to perform these tasks. Familiarity and experience with vapor phase deposition processes and equipment, glass machining and manufacturing equipment, a plus. Familiar with Design-to-Cost, Design-for-Manufacturing & Assembly, and other cost reduction methodologies. Proficient with MS Office, Microsoft Project, and 3-D CAD modeling skills.

Travel: 25% of the time
