Directs the strategy and implementation of global scientific communications based on the global clinical development plan and the brand strategies outlined in the product strategic plan for pre- and post-marketed products. Across specialty products, the planned dissemination of key scientific data is critical to drive customer acceptance and use of the brand, and sales are directly influenced by publications.
Education: A Master’s in a scientific/medical discipline related discipline is required.
Experience: Minimum of five to ten years experience in a related scientific/medical/pharmaceutical area with significant medical writing and/or publication planning experience.
The position requires scientific and technical expertise, including excellent ability to interpret and present scientific and clinical trial data, understand research protocols and statistical analyses. Must possess strong scientific writing and editorial skills. The incumbent will be required to focus on multiple projects at one time, and must have the ability to organize and direct diverse activities in a changing environment often under time pressure.
Strong management skills are necessary for the leader of the Oncology Publication Executive Committee. Requires outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external partners. Must have exceptional communication skills, and the ability to refine messages to their essence and communicate them clearly. A matrix structure requires additional skills in gathering decision information, negotiating and communicating decisions and action. In many cases competing objectives will have to be harmonized and reconciled to achieve the overall objectives. Requires ability to maintain a high level of productivity with minimal supervision, and the competency to work effectively with technical thought leaders. Must be independent, proactive, innovative, and able to react quickly in a dynamic market place.
