Medical Science Liaison Oncology
( Southwest Regional covering TX )
The MSL functions as a scientific expert between Medical Affairs and the medical community through the dissemination, clarification and education of scientific data. The MSM or RSM manages the scientific needs of national and regional key opinion leaders (KOLs) by establishing long-term strategic relationships with key, influential physicians/investigators and with major medical associations and academic centers of excellence. These relationships will ensure KOLs and organizations have access to relevant scientific information and Medical Affairs resources to make medical decisions, which impact their patients and clinical practices.
The MSL or RSM uses their experience, knowledge and skill working with KOLs, investigators and healthcare professionals through the practice of education by way of one-on-one scientific dialogue, small group discussions and symposia lecture presentations. The MSM or RSM will serve as the primary point of contact between Medical Affairs and the medical community as it pertains to investigator sponsored clinical research. The MSM or RSM will manage the involvement of KOLs in national, regional and local educational forums including advisory boards, consultants meetings and symposia.
The MSL or RSM will serve as an expert consultant to cross-functional internal stakeholders within their respective therapeutic area by providing product and disease state scientific information and technical support for training. In addition, the MSM or RSM is accountable for communicating relevant information from KOLs to key internal stakeholders.)
Level 1:
MSL or RSM 2 + years in healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, marketing or clinical Level 1 development, and or 0-2 years MSL experience. Works proactively and takes initiative. Resourcefully seeks information. Listens and communicates effectively. Requires some direction and guidance. May participate in some internal project work
Level 2:
MSL or RSM 3-5 years in healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, marketing or clinical development, and or 3+ years MSL experience Plans and manages work and projects effectively. Builds productive work relationships. Exhibits interpersonal awareness. Requires little direction and guidance. Participates in and may lead internal project work
Minimum Preferred Requirements:
· Doctorate degree in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine or equivalent is preferred
· 2 + years in healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, marketing or clinical development
· Knowledge of customer segments and market dynamics
· Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication
· Excellent project management ability
· Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
· Working knowledge of FDA, OIG requirements
Understanding of clinical trial setup and biostatistics
