Position Description
Job Responsibilities:
Qualified candidate will be responsible for the performance of direct-binding ELISA to test serum, inhibition ELISA for quantitative cross-reactivity, quantitative capture ELISA, IFNgamma ELISPOT, cell based bioassays and handling of chlamydia including quantitation of infectious burden. Responsibilites also include culture of adherent cells, adaptation and culture of hybridoma cells using serum-free media, analysis of data using linear regression and 4-parameter logistic fit, assay development with a view to assay validation, handling of animal biological samples including sera as well as organ or tissue samples. They will also be responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining inventory. This position will supervise at least 2 scientists.
Requirements:
PhD in Immunology or related field. Ideal candidate will have 10 plus years of related experience. The candidate for this managerial position will have knowledge and experience in laboratory management and inventory and supply management. Organizational skills required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Required skills include animal handling of mice, guinea pigs and rabbits as well as immunization techniques for each as well as experience obtaining sera. Knowledge and experience with ELISA development, ELISA performance and data analysis common to ELISA required. Knowledge and experience with assay (ELISA) validation suggested. Knowledge of cell-based bioassays required. Knowledge and experience with eukaryotic cell culture required and knowledge of monoclonal antibodies suggested. Experience with flow cytometry preferred. Wide knowledge of general immunological theory and concepts required, especially B cell and T cell immunology. Knowledge of immune stimulants including toll-like receptor agonists preferred. Experience in translation of animal model data to human vaccinology preferred. Experience or knowledge of Good Laboratory Procedures as well as handling of biohazards and general safety rules required.
