Research Associate

Description:
The successful candidate will develop and use pre-clinical in vivo models to support drug discovery projects in the Infection area.

Major Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

· Establishing and validating disease models
· Performing efficacy studies and analyzing and interpreting data
· Planning studies and timing of studies
· Small animal surgery to support pharmacokinetic studies
· Interacting with scientists across a range of disciplines and collaborating on multiple tasks and projects as part of team.
· Presenting data and interpretations of data to principal investigators as well as to discovery teams.
· Recording and archiving data in appropriate secure archives.

Minimum Requirements
· The candidate must possess strong animal technical skills.
· BA/BS or equivalent in Animal Science, Biological Sciences or toxicology and 3 yrs relevant experience.
· AALAS certification would be desirable
· Excellent written and verbal communication and good organizational skills.
· Knowledge of and experience with appropriate computational data analysis tools
· Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.
· Proficiency in rodent handling procedures, surgical techniques and expertise in a range of dosing routes and tissue collection techniques is essential.
· Experience with development and use of animal models of infection would be desirable.
· Strong working knowledge of aseptic techniques as well as general microbiology techniques is very desirable.
