Position Description

The Market Development Specialist for OLS (Oligo Library Synthesis) is a senior level sales role. This position will be responsible for analyzing and developing the market for OLS in the US and Canada; including understanding existing and new applications for OLS, facilitating the use of OLS by leaders that can develop applications, selling OLS and OLS products, and working close with Product Management and Product Development to give feedback from the field. The OLS Market Development Specialist will serve as a sales overlay to the geographic Genomic Product Specialists and will function in a coordinated way to advance opportunities and deals. This will be a quota based position with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Driving sales of OLS and OLS Products in the US and Canada
- Conduct internal and external presentations covering the science and business of OLS and its applications
- Contribute to developing effective strategies and tactics that will enable Agilent to develop OLS customers in not-for-profit and commercial accounts
- Focus on strategic OLS applications (Genome Partitioning, Mutagenesis, Genome Synthesis, shRNA libraries) and have the ability to recognize or create new applications and trends in the use of OLS
- Provide constructive feedback from customers into Agilent to help guide continual development of products that more effectively address customers’ needs.
- Participate and be an active member in the Genomics sales organization
- Understand Genomics business and science in the Non-Profit and Pharmaceutical industry and recognize trends that impact buying of Agilent products
- Identify strategic consortia and networks that influence the science and buying decisions for oligo libraries and lead in developing successful relationships with the key members
- Facilitate strategic collaborations
- Develop and maintain strategic customer relationships
- Represent Agilent to the customer AND the customer to Agilent.

Qualifications:
- Minimum BS/MS in Chemistry or a Life Sciences discipline, or equivalent.
- Solid self management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- 5+ years related direct sales experience with a demonstrated track record for achieving quota and closing small and large strategic deals
- High level of experience in microarrays, sequencing, and general molecular biology and the leading customers that buy them
- Technical knowledge and domain knowledge in the research, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical industry (profit and not for profit)
- Industry/Application expertise. Working knowledge of competitive products (specifications, value propositions, price points)
- Experienced and comfortable interfacing with senior level leaders in customer organizations and internally
- Demonstrated selling skills. Strong business development and sales closing skills
- Effective interpersonal communication and telephone sales skills. This person must be a team player as they will be interfacing significantly with the business unit and sales organization
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Location: Field Based, flexible but preference for San Francisco Bay Area.
