EMD Serono, Inc. is a leader in US biotechnology, focusing on reproductive health, metabolic endocrinology, and neurology. More than 500 people work in the world-class facilities in Rockland, MA, and approximately 250 work in the field.
Description
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Product Manager – will implement programs designed to drive sales and market share of the Fertility portfolio.
This person will be responsible for:
• Daily execution of the annual tactics from the Brand Plan
• Management of purchase orders, budgets and Triplefin inventory system
• Provide support and direction to the sales force with regard to implementation of tactical programs during POA planning
• Development of specific objectives, strategies and tactics for optimizing sales as agreed upon by the Brand Team and Vice President, Marketing
• Will be responsible for fostering seamless communication between Freedom Alliance partner, Fertility Lifelines, marketing and sales.
• Overall focus will be oriented to consumer marketing initiatives
MAIN INTERFACES:
INTERNALLY: Gonal-f Brand team; PSMR Committee; Vice President, Marketing
EXTERNALLY: Advertising Agency, Interactive web agency and misc. vendors
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop marketing tactics for designated product(s).
• Assist in the development and execution of advertising and sales promotional programs to attain marketing goals.
• Assist in the development of specific marketing plans for assigned products complete with time frames for achieving results.
• Work with outside advertising agency and/or graphic arts groups to create and execute the specific advertising tactics as called for in the approved plan.
• Responsible for the final appearance and accuracy of all promotional and packaging materials.
• Monitor competitive activity with respect to assigned products, making recommendations for change in product strategy whenever necessary.
• Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments to achieve specific marketing goals as well as to achieve overall company goals.
• Manage the development through production of the content of the promotional materials to correspond with the product’s positioning and key messages.
• Maintain contact with EMD Serono sales representatives, physicians and customers by working in the field and attending conventions and medical meetings. Encourage suggestions, criticisms, and new ideas relative to advertising and sales promotion activity.
• Participate in monthly Brand Team meetings and provide progress reports to team on tactic development and implementation
• Attend symposiums and meetings to help increase the level of personal marketing expertise.
• Must be willing to travel ~25% of the time both nationally and internationally
EDUCATION/LANGUAGES
• B.S., B.A. Degree in Business required, Marketing or related field of study; MBA preferred
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 1-3 years Pharmaceutical experience required
• Experience in specialty markets or sales is a plus
PERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to manage multiple projects and work with outside vendors
• Presentations skills preferred
