Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Sales Specialist has responsibility to identify and call on appropriate physician/clinician contacts and institutional accounts within his/her assigned territory and leverage such contacts in consultative selling to promote PGxHealth’s pharmacogenomic tests to a specialty audience in the US. The Clinical Sales Specialist has responsibility for developing and executing a territory business plan that is consistent with the national and region marketing plan and optimizes use of available resources to achieve territory sales objectives. The selling environment is one of information exchange entirely based on resources and messages designed to provide an accurate, complete, fair and balanced presentation of the company’s products and services.

POSITION AUTHORITY
• Authority for budget/financial resources and purchasing: The Clinical Sales Specialist has direct authority over a budget to be established by the company for his or her territory. .
• Authority to hire/fire: N/A.
• Accountability for profit/loss or revenue: The Clinical Sales Specialist has responsibility for generating revenue and for meeting sales goals established by the company for his or her territory.
• Accountability for material assets/facilities: The Clinical Sales Specialist has responsibility for monitoring the status of assets supplied to him/her and for ensuring that these assets are used appropriately.
• Accountability for business/client relationships: The Clinical Sales Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the company’s customers in his/her territory.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Identify and profile all appropriate physician/clinician contacts and institutional accounts within his/her assigned territory. Enter requested contact data in the company’s data base and keep it updated on a regular basis.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and thought leaders in the territory.
• Utilize consultative selling techniques to educate customers on our products and disease where required.
• Develop territory business plans to increase awareness and sales of the company’s products. Business plans should include specific tactics (in-services, speaker programs, etc.) that will be utilized to accomplish sales goals in a given quarter and year.
• Effectively use call planning to target potential high prescribing MD’s and thought leaders.
• Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and expense targets in the territory as established by management.
• Act in complete and total compliance with all company policies and procedures and applicable regulations with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
• Actively participate in quarterly performance plans with the Region Sales Director.
• Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the company, its policies and procedures, its products, and the therapeutic areas in general.
• Collaborate with other Clinical Sales Specialist in generating, exchanging, and implementing ideas to advance the business. Collaborate with the National Account Director to ensure adequate coverage and reimbursement for our testing products within the territory.
• Maintain regular and timely communication with the Region Sales Director through informal interaction, formal reports, and participation in company planning meetings. Keep RSD apprised of the market and competitive dynamics and needs of the marketplace.
• Utilize company’s computer system (Sales Force Automation) to plan and report calls as directed by upper management.
• Utilize company’s computer system weekly to monitor referrals for testing and sales trends in the territory.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
The Clinical Sales Specialist will interact regularly with his/her RSD and peers. The Clinical Sales Specialist will also interact with customers on a daily basis.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
The Clinical Sales Specialist will work with their RSD to complete Field Contact Reports, Quarterly Performance Plans and Annual Performance Reviews.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Clinical Sales Specialist will be supervised by a Region Sales Director but will have autonomy to act as a territory manager to create and sustain sales growth in the territory.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• A minimum of 3-5 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology or medical testing industry sales experience is required.
• Experience in selling prescription pharmaceuticals or testing products for diseases related to PGx Health’s areas of focus is highly desirable.

SKILLS AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated professionalism and strong business ethics.
• Strong analytical and financial skills in reporting and analyzing sales and expense data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Strong results orientation, proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives and goals.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
· Valid drivers license
· Ability to travel domestically as necessary, which may require overnight and weekend travel up to 60% of the time.
