Position Description
KV Pharmaceutical seeks a Drug Information Specialist within the Medical Affairs Department to respond to product inquiries submitted on behalf of healthcare professionals and consumers. The position entails focus on communicating both verbally and in writing, to healthcare professionals as well as consumers on medical questions related to therapy with Company products. Additionally, this position has a pivotal role in supporting sales representatives and internal colleagues.
The successful candidate will retrieve and compile relevant product information and general medical information from a variety of sources, communicate the information in a knowledgeable and professional manner to healthcare professionals and consumers as it relates to Company products and therapeutic categories. Assistance with the completion of Adverse Drug Reports, which involves, initial contact with the complainant to better understand the full scope of the specific complaint and the medical issues involved is significant.
The identified candidate will review medical literature and information related to therapies associated with Company products, participate in product development issues as it pertains to clinical studies, labeling, allergen content, etc, and participate in the review and approval of promotional material. The incumbent will also be expected to participate in manuscript writing as well as managed care formulary issues, participate in the education of sales professionals and provide sales representative support in providing in-depth knowledge to key healthcare customer questions. Writing standard medical letters to frequently asked questions and assisting with various marketing activities to ensure messages are clinically sound is integral. The eligible candidate will need to review disease-state management and drug class comparisons for potential new products as well as other related duties, as assigned, to meet departmental and Company objectives.
Qualified candidates will have a completed degree in advanced scientific/medical training and education (Pharm.D., R.Ph., R.N., M.S., R.D. L.D. etc.) The ideal candidates will also have experience in medical, pharmaceutical, or pharmacy field and experience working in Drug Information area of pharmaceutical industry, and knowledge and understanding of prescription drug use, disease states, and medical issues. Familiarity with drug information services associated with the pharmaceutical industry, systems monitoring and development is required. The ability to learn new medical areas, and has the communication skills to provide professional written and verbal responses as well as be proficient in medical searching experience from PubMed, internet, CDER, and general medical information authorities is also required.
