Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Regional Reimbursement Manager is responsible for reimbursement activities in their assigned region of the country. This individual works closely with the National Reimbursement Manager (NRM), the sales force, and Abraxis Oncology management to assist in trainings and ensure good communication of the reimbursement environment for Abraxis Oncology products. They will also be responsible for developing relationships with key payers and local oncology societies in their region to educate them on Abraxis Oncology products.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE INCUMBENT
• Serve as regional reimbursement experts for Abraxis Oncology and their products. Understand coverage, coding, and reimbursement for Abraxis Oncology products and their competitor’s products. Have a general understanding of reimbursement for other oncology drugs and biologics.
• Identify and communicate reimbursement trends and issues in their assigned region.
• Assist the NRM with any issues or problems surrounding ARC of Support Reimbursement Services.
• Research and interpret Medicare, Medicaid and private payer policy.
• Develop relationships with Medicare, Medicaid, MCOs, oncology societies, and other related organizations in their region. Correspond by phone and email, send mailings, and attend open door meetings to meet key contacts and educate the payer or organization on Abraxis Oncology products.
• Develop and present reimbursement trainings for the Abraxis Oncology sales force and/or Regional Managers as needed. Assist the sales force, Regional Managers and National Account Managers with any account-specific reimbursement problems or issues.
• Attend Reimbursement Department meetings and other Abraxis Oncology company meetings as scheduled. Participate as needed to answer reimbursement-related questions.
• Participate and/or present reimbursement presentations at oncology trade shows and industry meetings.
• Develop reports and retrieve/interpret data as needed.
• Assist the NRM with the training and mentoring of new Regional Reimbursement Specialists.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge:
The Regional Reimbursement Manager will hold a Bachelors degree or evidence of continued work towards a bachelors degree strongly preferred. Candidates without a degree should have a high school diploma and 5+ years of work experience in oncology reimbursement or oncology pharmaceutical sales experience with a high level of reimbursement experience and knowledge.

Experience:
The Regional Reimbursement Manager will have at least 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical reimbursement. They must have a good understanding and knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and managed care reimbursement in addition to a basic understanding of coding; HCPCS codes, ICD-9 codes, CPT codes and coverage of drugs and biologics. Oncology reimbursement experience preferred.

Skills/Aptitude:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good presentation skills, demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to “think on his/her feet” and provide solutions and alternatives. Good leadership abilities and a positive attitude. Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and meetings simultaneously; strong organizational skill. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint knowledge required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position requires that the employee work from a home office (field-based). Must be able to travel and participate in industry trade shows in addition to the Abraxis Oncology or Abraxis BioScience’s home offices as needed. Must be able to travel approximately 50% to local Medicare carriers/fiscal intermediaries, Medicaid agencies, commercial/private payers and/or Abraxis Oncology customers to educate and communicate reimbursement information regarding Abraxis Oncology products. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet schedules and complete job functions.
