Purpose of Position
The Senior Scientist is to take a leadership role in the establishment and validation of methods and review of data from the analysis of samples. Act as a lead in performing daily routine duties in the analytical laboratories in Development Services.

Responsibilities and Duties
Day to day operations may include the development and validation of HPLC and / or LC/MS methods for the analysis of samples obtained from biological incubations.
Take a leadership role in analytical methods development, optimizations, qualification and validation. Structural elucidation of compounds for metabolite identification using LC/MS/MS.
Design and execute studies. Summarize data and make recommendations for future studies.
Review scientific literature and collect information relating to technologies and suggest novel approaches and processes for improvements.
Author, review and approve analytical methods, SOPs as necessary.
Train laboratory staff on laboratory SOPs and procedures, and complex analytical scientific processes, procedures and methods.
Demonstrate good technical judgment in troubleshooting and identifying process improvement opportunities and techniques.
Designs and / or evaluates new techniques, methods, equipment to investigate anomalous data and to address specific problems.
Ensures all analytical laboratory documents are completed within specific timelines. Generates and accurately reports clear concise technical information and documentation.
Applies a wide array of scientific principles and concepts to problems and projects of diverse scope.
Demonstrates project responsibility and leadership, where applicable.
Demonstrates creative problem solving skills.
Performs work according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), departmental policies, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations.
Assist in the training of new employees on various laboratory SOPs and procedures.
Maintains orderly, clean and safe workplace



Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements

B.S. degree in a scientific field and 7-12 + years of relevant experience; or M.S. degree in a scientific field with 6-8 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience
Extensive hands-on experience in analytical technique i.e. chromatographic separations and mass spectrometry.
Experience developing and / or validating analytical assays and new laboratory techniques.
A diverse background in a variety of analytical methods.
Expertise in standard software (e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint). Expertise with developing and presenting data in spreadsheets and word processing.
Experience with LC/MS/MS structural elucidation is a plus
