Position Description

We have an exciting position available for a technician to learn and work on the Agilent GC Mass Spectrometer. Technician will be responsible for performing final assembly, test, repair, troubleshooting, and support of the Agilent GC Mass Spectrometer systems and related sub-assemblies. Specific responsibilities would include the following:

- Executes complex(electronic, mechanical, and/or chemical) routine and non-routine tests, troubleshooting, repair, and quality verification on GCMS instruments requiring an in-depth technical background with limited documentation and/ or technical support.
- Provides feedback on defects and/or quality of test to production operators and engineering.
- Determines and develops approaches to manufacturing technical assignments and processes for technical duties which require planning and judgment.
- Introduces new processes to production area, including prototype builds, material changes(ECO’s) and process documentation.
- Solves a broad range of manufacturing technical problems of varying scope and complexity.
- Calibrates and troubleshoots equipment and instrumentation and performs standard maintenance.
- Provides troubleshooting support to engineering group, as well as miscellaneous project work in experimental analysis.
- Assists engineering and test/tooling technicians in the development and evaluation of new tests, tools or processes. Monitors processes and equipment to ensure same is functioning to specifications
- Interacts with others to determine testing requirements, as well as issuing reports to control processes.
- Demonstrated willingness to take responsibility for resolving problems and personally championing new ideas or solutions to these problems.
- Able to travel for periods up to four weeks.
- Analyzes chemical samples, interprets results and uses good judgment to make modifications to the product /process to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Executes/monitors and produces data for standard and non-standard operations, tests or experiments (chemical, electronic, mechanical), working from standardized procedures or instructions.
- Fabricates prototypes and/or assists in equipment maintenance in support of a process or product.

Qualifications:
- Qualified individuals will possess an AA/AS degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Gas Chromatography, Mass Spec or Liquid Chromatography is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical skills and understanding of the fundamentals involved in the product. (Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Mechanics)
- Demonstrated record of troubleshooting, “Diagnostic” skills, and solving technical problems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently handle technically challenging assignments.
- Demonstrated flexibility and receptiveness to change in daily routine.
- Willingness to train in other product lines or upstream process
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings; both mechanical and electrical.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical problems, needs, plans and achievements at different levels of the organization.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and learn from the experience of co-workers.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to apply technical and/ or mathematical skills to analyze and understand the fundamentals involved in GCMS technology.
- General Computer Literacy including effective use of Microsoft Office computer applications and documentation tools (i.e. SAP) to create, modify and enhance production documentation.
- This position may require mandatory overtime for an extended period.
