Position Objective:
To identify and deliver the right message(s) to the right customer through key channels globally across the research portions of the serum business segment. Channels include web, internet, B2B, and on-site stocking locations (supply centers) at customers.

Essential Functions:
• Manage the Serum area of the web-site, incorporating the messages from each geographic region to provide a coherent presence for customers
• Use Search Engine Management and Search Engine Optimization strategies to efficiently and effectively drive more traffic to the web-site, and other e-based marketing programs
• Coordinate across the company and contribute to the development of messaging and tools that communicate the value/brand through e-marketing for the serum business
• Identify and execute against cross-segment opportunities and the cell culture workflow
• Improve our overall web presence and customer experience
• Work with the regional marketing teams across the various regions to develop and implement marketing programs to promote serum revenue and margin growth
• Work with field sales on account strategies that are related to supply center serum revenue and margin growth

Assist in the development of various marketing strategies as they relate to key channels.

• Segmentation Strategy
• Competitive Responses
• Price-Getting Strategies
• Market Dynamics

Gather and interpret data to determine the effectiveness of marketing through various channels; our channel strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT); analytics around web traffic, click-throughs, conversion and ROI etc.

Using data gathered, make recommendations for priorities and project allocation. Gather VOC to develop message and serum segment strategy

May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. Could also assist in serum product development as required.

Nature and Scope:
This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to communicate verbally and in writing Invitrogen’s marketing plans. Effectiveness in this role requires a functional knowledge of those operating plans as well as industry practices for developing, promoting and selling similar products. The incumbent works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations requires review of identifiable factors. May make formal presentations on relevant information.

Requirements:
Knowledge of HTML programming. Strong marketing acumen. Project management and organizational skills are essential. Proven analytical skills. Strong communication skills, both written & verbal. Proven ability to see new business opportunities set and meet aggressive objectives and develop strong working relationships.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline, or the equivalent education and experience are required. Prior experience in cell culture a clear plus, but not essential.

Experience:
Desire three to five years in a similar marketing role including experience with web/channel activity and web optimization.

Contacts:
Has contact with all levels of company employees and external customers.

Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
