Job Description:
The packaging engineer is responsible to select, evaluate, and recommend primary packaging materials for parenteral drug products (i.e., vials, syringes, stoppers, etc). Also responsible to select, evaluate, and recommend bulk packaging containers for formulated bulk drug substance (i.e., bags, bottles, carboys, tanks, etc.). Assists in the design of secondary packaging and shipping containers. Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the department. Assures compliance with regulatory packaging requirements, both domestic and international, contributes to regulatory filings to meet worldwide registration requirements. Successful candidates will have ability to work in a matrix team environment and interact effectively with representatives from Analytical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Purification Process Development, Project Management, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Compliance, and Quality.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will have experience in container/closure systems including bottles, vials, stoppers, syringes, and plungers, etc. Also required is experience in experimental design, data collection and statistical analysis and a strong understanding of biopharmaceutical Drug Product process development and commercialization methodologies, including GMP / aseptic processing and cold chain shipping requirements. Experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization working with protein biochemistry, and/or drug product process development preferred. In addition, candidates should possess excellent interpersonal, project management and problem solving skills.

Education:
B.S with 3-6 years or M.S. with 2-3 yrs experience in Packaging or Materials Engineering preferred, degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field with related experience will be considered.
