Position Description

Agilent’s Life Science/ Chemical Analysis Group (LSCA) is a leading provider of analytical instrument systems that enable customers to identify, quantify, analyze and test the molecular, physical and biological properties of thousands of substances and products. LSCA has five sites worldwide: Waldbronn in Germany, Little Falls and Santa Clara in the USA, Tokyo in Japan, and Shanghai in China.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, people-oriented field Application Scientist to join a growing Field Application Scientist Team supporting Agilent’s microarray, microfluidics and bioinformatics solutions with the LSCA division. As an integral member of the Asia Pacific sales team, you will be the primary technical contact for customers, providing technical guidance regarding Agilent’s products and applications, supporting the sales team by delivering product demonstrations, customer training, and be responsible for all aspects of pre-sales and post-sales technical support. You will also be a key participant in the implementation of various marketing tactics by delivering technical presentations at conferences, workshops and creating marketing documents and competitive analysis. Primiary geographical responsibility includes Singapore, Malaysia, India, and other countries in the Southeast Asia region.

Summary of Duties:
- Conducts training and technical presentation on Agilent’s genomics portfolio to existing and potential customers;
- Participates in presale support by conducting on-site product demonstrations and customer visits;
- Troubleshooting technical issues related to the products, applications, experimental design, and data analysis.
- Assists Sales Representatives in establishing and maintaining relationships with core facilities and key customer accounts.
- Provides training and technical assistance to new and existing distributors and Certified Service Providers.
- Acts as a key contributor of customer and market feedback into Agilent to help guide continual development of products that more effectively address customers’ needs.

Qualification:
- Minimum MS degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics or equivalent, Ph.D. preferred;
- Solid technical knowledge in basic molecular biology and good domain knowledge in genomics/microarray and/or data analysis;
- 5+ yrs hands-on bio-laboratory experience with microarray or genomics preferred;
- 2+ yrs industrial experience specifically in a customer-facing role that provided pre/post technical support within a sales organization is a plus;
- Excellent communication and public presentation skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to write technical or marketing documentation, and to analyze complex biological data and information;
- Solid team player with good self management, organizational and prioritization skills;
- Written and oral fluency in English;
- Excellent computer operation experience (PC preferred) and familiar with applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and NetMeeting.
- Flexibility in working hours and available for 50% or more business travel.
