Research Associate
We are seeking a Research Associate with knowledge and expertise in cell biology, immunology and/or tumor biology to join the Oncology research group. Under the supervision of a Staff Scientist, the candidate will perform in vivo experiments to characterize and validate novel cancer targets. He or she will test the efficacy of target-specific therapeutic antibodies in support of IND applications. In vitro assays will also be performed in support of mechanism of action and target validation studies.
The candidate must have a B.S. degree with 3-5 years of work experience. The candidate will be expected to work with a significant level of autonomy to accomplish goals given general direction. He or she will also be expected to work effectively in a team environment. In addition to excellent in vivo technique, expertise in cell culture techniques, cell-based assays and flow cytometry is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
• in vivo mouse tumor model experiments (inoculation, dosing. tumor measurements, etc.)
• in vitro cell-based assays
• cell culture
• data analysis and presentation
• documentation of experimental results and interpretation
• communicate and collaborate effectively with team members
• contribute to experimental design, data interpretation and troubleshooting
What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor of Science in cell biology, immunology or related field
• at least 3 years of experience performing in vivo animal studies
• excellent written and oral communication skills
• ability to effectively organize time, data and documentation
• strong attention to detail
• ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a manner consistent with project goals and timelines
• good facility with Excel, Prism (or other graphing) and Word computer software
• work in close proximity to and for long periods of time with laboratory animals
• stand/sit at laboratory benches and hoods for long periods of time
